Just ordered a 127 Ultima EVO and an Ultima 6 speed LSD tranny.
The 127 comes with ignition and a 45 mikuni.... nice:)
The Tranny has a .86 over drive and a taller 1st gear that should give another 5 to 7 mph in 1st.
I'll swap out my charging system from the 80 and change over to a final chain drive from the pully / belt.
After shipping costs, the bill came to $4100.00 very nice....
A week to get here and probably about 2 to 3 days for me to swap everything out.
Stay tuned..

OK, engine and tranny have arrived.
The new chain drive components will be here on Monday.
I am going to order a new starter due to the fact that the new motor is almost twice the size of my original pump.
Milwaukee twins has a chromed 2.0kW starter for around $350.00 bucks.
Thats half as expensive as the Compufire unit that I want.
I run a Compufire ignition and really like their stuff.
But, money is money and $650.00 bucks for a starter is bull shit.
Measuring up the motor, it fits into the frame with some clearance but, I will have to pull the motor if I want to do head work in the future.
Still, a monster motor and 6 speed tranny, final chain drive for under 5k.. It's fucking righteous..
Reno rally here I come.

Starter is here; I just ordered a new coil, top engine mount, plug wires and finned coil cover.
The 127 slides in real nice but... the rear cylinder hits the stock coil location.
Coil and bracket had to be removed.
I'm not running dual plug heads with the 127 so, a new coil was in order.
I will install the coil right in the horn location, giving the horn the deep six.
I never used it except for hiding some things... hehehehehe
The 6 speed box is polished real nice and the 2.0 kilowatt starter is fully chromed.
Because I am using an over drive 6th gear, I kept the stock rear gearing even though I went to chain instead of belt.
I'll start taking pics as I go along with the re birth of Nowhere's Asphalt Eatin FLSTF..

It was going too good.
First hiccup.. motor hits frame!!!
Right where the dimple is on the down tube, the top of the rocker cover just touches.
This is supposed to be a drop in thing. Measuring it up, the 120 would just clear but the additional .250 stroke is causing the issue.
I will most likely extend the dimple up about 1/16th of an inch giving me the clearance that I need for thermal expansion / vibration.
It's going to be a shoe horn fit with not much room for anything else.
I had to re-locate the coil mount to between the cylinders and deep six the horn.
I need the coil, not the horn.
Unless I have another set back, I should wrap this up by Friday night.

Solution found ;
The motor issue was related to the Ultima rocker covers.
They are 1/3 inch taller than the S&S 2 piece units I run.
I swapped the rocker covers and voila.. a nice easy slip in fit.
I contacted Ultima and told them that at least for their 127, they need to use a lower profile rocker cover in stock frames.
Should be riding by Saturday morning....

She's done..
Everything went together real nice; even the RB Racing header fits.
I actually think it fits better with the 127 than it did with the 80 incher.
With the re-fit of the coil to the top engine mount, I decided to cut off the old coil location mount.
It actually looks cleaner now. ( that empty spot is just begging for a small NOS bottle) hehehe.
I have pics but, for some reason my software on my computer is not functioning to allow me to transfer the pics from the camera.
I'll figure it out soon enough.
Nowhere now has his dream FLSTF, the wife is dealing with it, and I'm gonna put on some break in miles before the Reno rally.

First decent ride impressions:
Motor has got power all over the fucking place; near impossible to stall even if you wanted to.
Runs hot- low speed and main are ok, changed to a richer needle, still not enough. Will raise need needle all the way up from middle position.
Sound - like a friggen funny car with the RB 2 into 1 exhaust.
Need to recal speedo as it is reading about 10 mph slower - new tranny
Neutral light is fucked; shows neutral while in gear and in gear while in neutral. New switch is 10 bucks.
Looks - like it belongs in the FLSTF frame.

It's killing me to stay out of the throttle on this bike.
You can feel the motor setting in and start to make some serious power.
I contacted Big City thunder about making a custom baffle for the pipe.
It is soooo loud that my buddies are starting to complain about riding next to me for the 300 plus mile ride to Reno.. hehehe
It seems to be getting around 30 mpg without any back pressure (baffle).
I should be able to bring that up to 35 to 37 when a baffle gets installed and I get to use 6th gear.
Hmmm, I have this spot where the old coil used to be; it's perfect for a nitrous bottle....

Had a mind altering experience today..
It was about 82 degrees this afternoon, hopped on the scoot to ride home from another crappy day at the store.
Reached down to the petcock to close it up and my finger actually got burnt from the heat coming off the cylinder and into the petcock!!
Things are that close now.
If I had been wearing closed finger gloves I'd probably not have noticed it at all but I was wearing open finger gloves..
Took it over 3000 rpm today for a sustained period..
As much as I think this thing has power up the ass, it turns right nasty after 3600 rpm.
The front end gets real light if you put just a slight amount of weight on the back of the seat.
It's weird having such a heavy bike with that much power.
I can see using a dual disk setup for the front now where I never felt I needed it before.
Man,I am soooo ready to get away for a few days and head to Reno for some R&R.

Did a chain adjustment and a filter clean today.
The filter clean took a whole 10 minutes start to finish.
I'm gonna like this re-useable filter / cooler piece.
Still waiting on the "Quiet Riot" baffle for the RB racing header.
Running that much cubes through that pipe sure makes for some serious noise.
And I disliking the sound of fishtail pipes on decell too.
This motor pipe combo makes fishtails sound like stock hardware.. scheech!
All set for the trip to Reno end of the month..
Sparks, here we come..
